ACT’s 17 year old Wunderkind Tom Palmer has ridden the ride of his life to win the kilo at the junior world championships. Palmer recorded an amazing time of 1.02.4 to beat New Zealand favourite Eddy Dawkins by just .1 of a second. This is Palmer’s second medal of the championships but his first in which he receives a rather nice jersey as well.

Western Australia’s world pursuit champion Josie Tomic, has doubled up to win the world points race championship aswell. Tomic annihilated the field to win by 15 points, repeating her performance from the Australian championships in which she nearly won every sprint. Tomic has showed that she is one of the strongest, if not the strongest, U19 women on the track.

The weekend before last i headed to Shepparton to ride the “Shepparton 150km Road Race”, terrific event for anyone thinking about doing it next year, has grades so anyone can have a go!
Butler flies into silver in the Keiren

Western Australian Josephine ‘Jobey’ Butler has ridden the race of her life to finish in second place in the women’s keiren. Butler was only beaten by Victoria Baranova from Russia in the final held only minutes ago. Butler brings home her first medal of the championships after 4th place in the team sprint and 5th place in the 500 metre time trial.

August 8, 2007The Australian Junior team has blitzed the first two days of track competition at the 2007 World Championships being raced on an outdoor 333m track at altitude in Aquascalientes, Mexico claiming five gold, one silver and two bronze medals and a world record along the way.
Australiawon the men’s and women’s individual pursuit, the men’s scratch race, men’s Omnium, and the men’s teams pursuit, claimed silver in the women’s individual pursuit and picked up bronze in both the men’s individual pursuit and the men’s teams sprint.
