Cyclingresults.net (CR): Congratulations on winning 3 world  championships…so far!

l_ad133e53db585f280e720d3045184aa1Josephine Tomic (JT): Thank you.

CR: How does it feel?

JT: It is a unreal feeling. I don’t think it has all sunk in yet, because
after each race I have had to focus on the next one. But after the road race I am going to have a few weeks off the bike and I am sure it will sink in then.

CR: Can you describe the atmosphere over in Mexico in the Australian camp?

wild4%20copyJT: Everyone is very excited and the team spirit has been great.  The Mexican people are all really nice and have taken a liking to the Australians, if they are not cheering for the Mexicans, they are cheering for the Australians.

CR: Were you confident going into these championships?

JT: I was confident that I would perform well if I did not get sick or
injured because I don’t think anyone could have trained harder than the Australians did at the camps. We all worked so hard under the guidance of Sutto and Decker [Gary Sutton & Tim Decker-ed.] and I had complete trust that their training would have me in unreal form.

Tomic stands proud on the podiumCR: Did you expect to be coming away with 3 new jerseys?

JT: No, I thought I had a good chance in the pursuit, but the points race and time trial have just been great bonuses.

CR: You’ve been pretty focused on breaking the world record in the pursuit for quite a long time now, how does it feel to have finally achieved it?

l_ca7abcbd48f5dd681104072a2130c607JT: It was an amazing feeling because I have wanted it for so long and worked so hard for it. To finally do it, well it is a feeling I will not forget.

CR: Could you explain your typical race day preparation (for the Time Trial)?

JT: I rode out to the course, did a lap of it easy, then relaxed in the  bus listening to music. I then did about 25mins on the rollers.

ganadora_contrareloj_femenil(2)CR: What are your expectations for the road race?

JT: I know that I will be very marked, so we will try and use that to
Lauren [Kitchen], Carlee [Taylor] and my advantage.

CR: Any one you would like to thank?

IMG_8397JT: My mum for sacrificing everything to help me do what I love,  and my coach Darryl Benson and the Australian coaches, Gary Sutton and Tim Decker.

CR: Josie, thanks for doing this Cyclingresults.net live interview.

JT: Thanks
