What a great way to start the World Championships! We rode 1:11.639. A personal best time for both of us. We are very pleased with our ride especially as we don’t do any specific training for this event. We were the first women’s tandem to ride the kilo, as we didn’t ride this event last year, so we had to sit through 18 other rides until we could confirm our bronze medal! The gold went to the Great Britain team in 1:10.539 and the silver to the other Australian tandem of Felicity Johnson and Katie Parker in 1:10.789.

The Ronde Van Provincie Antwerpen
After my success in Roosendaal I was feeling great, which was promising going into the coming weekends Junior Tour the Ronde van provincie antwerpen. After a couple of days of easy kms Wouter and I caught the train to Bunnik to be picked up by Mark the team manager, we stayed the night at his house and travelled the 1.5hrs to Antwerp the following day.
One of the hardest things you can do is to get out of a warm, comfortable car, into pouring rain, knowing that within the next hour you will be sitting at the startline in that same horrible weather, one of 180 riders, hoping like hell you aren’t going to crash. Luckily I coped all right as I had practiced earlier in the year at the Canberra tour, the first day of which I will never forget!!

With the 2007 UCI Masters World Championships being held at the DGV, We all know there is a need for some competitive events to fine tune Australian Masters Track skills and fitness. A designated master’s only series with an emphasis on championship events would be beneficial and popular
Additionally the opportunity to utilise equipment such as starting gates and electronic timing will also assist our rider’s chances at the championships.
