Australia tops medal count at Para-Cycling Worlds

Australia’s AWD (Athlete’s with a Disability) cyclists have wrapped up their track campaign at the UCI Para-Cycling World Championships in Bordeaux with an impressive seven gold, five silver and seven bronze medals for a tally of 19, the most of any nation. Great Britain topped the medal table with nine gold, one silver and 1 bronze for a total of 11 medals.

Hoppy leads the bean team to US Crit Nats

Australian speedster Jeff “Hoppy” Hopkins (Bankstown Sports CC) has returned to form after his crash in Athens, and will lead his Jittery Joe’s team in its assault on Downer’s Grove at the Pro-Am Challenge and US Pro Criterium Championships on Saturday and Sunday. The race will award the stars and stripes jersey to the highest placed American in Sunday’s race, but with $20,000 on the line, the team may rely on Hopkins to bring home the bacon.

First teams enter Goulburn to Citi

World record holders, Olympic and World Champions are promoting road safety in the 139th running of the 2007 Goulburn to Citi (Sydney) Cycle Classic, to be held Sunday, September 23.

The Ben Mikic Foundation (BMF) represented by Southern Highlands Club members will race in memory of their junior club member, Ben Mikic who was tragically killed in a training accident in May this year and are the first team to enter this year’s race.
