Supersign02[1]Planning for the 2007/2008 Rendition Homes South Australian Team Premiership Criterium Series kicked off last night at the Adelaide SuperDrome.

Teams from last years series met to resolve planning issues for this years 16 round series, which is expected to start at the end of October.

A daughter for Stuey

L1000172altCSC’s Stuart O’Grady was still recovering from serious injuries he  suffered in a crash during the Tour de France when he headed back to the hospital some three weeks later. However, this was for a very good reason – the birth of his daughter, Keira Rose.

Keira Rose was born on her father’s birthday, August 6.

Results: Tour of the Murray River, Stage 5, Vic (TC)

West Australian Peter Dawson, one of two gold medal Olympians in the Fishers IGA Tour of the Murray River field, unleashed his awesome sprinting power to win yesterday’s fifth stage, a 52-kilometre criterium in the seaside NSW township of Euston. Dawson kept himself in a tidy position in an 11-man breakaway before opening the throttle on the last lap to hold out NSW rider Robbie Cater and Queensland’s Darcy Rosenlund.

Victorian 27 year-old David Pell took over as the new leader of the Fishers IGA Tour of the Murray River yesterday, but not before he sent judges and timekeepers scurrying for the records. Pell was sixth home in the Kerang to Cohuna fourth stage and along the way picked up enough intermediate time bonuses to draw level with previous leader Peter McDonald.

Queensland based Grant Irwin won his third race in Caribou-promoted history, claiming the morning’s 33-kilometre criterium in Kerang. Irwin won the Merbein to Wentworth stage of the 2005 Tour of the Murray River and in this year’s Timbercorp Cup series, closed off the Tour of Gippsland with victory in the Bairnsdale Criterium.

Breaking news: TDU gets Škoda backing

Australia’s Tour Down Under has announced the signing of Škoda Auto as the event’s major sponsor for the next three years. The announcement of the Volkswagen-owned Czech Republic car manufacturer as title sponsor is the first in a string of commercial announcements anticipated over the coming months.
