Sulzberger storms his way to a podium finish for Australia!

Tasmanian Wesley Sulzberger has claimed Australia’s first medal at this year’s UCI Road Cycling World Championships with his silver medal ride in the 172 kilometre U23 men’s road race. Sulzberger, 20, sprinted home second behind Slovakian Peter Velits who won the world title in a time of 4h21m22s with Britain’s Jonathan Bellis third.

Results:Women’s Road World Championships, Germany (CM)

Italy’s Maria Bastianelli won the gold ahead of 2006 World  Champion Marianne Vos (NED) with another Italian Giorgia Bronzini third.

Oenone Wood was Australia’s best placed crossing the line in eighth place in the women’s road race.
