Rider Diary: Mark O’Brien…Finishing a successful Sun Tour

Here I am checking in for my final diary of this years Jayco Herald Sun Tour, and what a journey it has been.

Coming into the final crit it was still possible anyone of the top four on GCs race, with Matt Wilson holding a slender lead over Steve Morabito.

As Matt had shown his strong sprinting form on the day to Wangaratta, it was quite possible that Astana would accept second on GC, and go for another stage win. It would turn out, that this was exactly their plan.

Results: Regency Park Criteriums, Round 1, SA (Crit)

Full results & report.

Mathew Miller (Mittiga) and Michael McGee (Orbea) were the first two victorious riders in this years season of criteriums at Regency Park held in 30+ degree heat. Miller took out the qualifying series for the teams premiership and in doing so qualified his team Mittiga.

Live Interview: Phil Thuaux…High hopes for 2008

DSC_0109Brian Crawford caught up with Phil Thuaux during NSWIS training at  Dunc Gray Velodrome.

Cyclingresults.net: Good afternoon Phil, it’s been a few months since we’ve caught up, how is the team going?

Phil Thuaux: “This is my second year with Drapac, last year was my first year and I went to Drapac when I was at Uni and I just recently finished Uni, they’ve treated me well let me study full time at Uni without any pressure to race giving right emphasis to Uni, which is good it let me finish and a good group of guys and people involved with the team they’re all trying to help each other out, there’s no designated leader for the whole season; we see how things go, whoever we nominate we put  in 100% for them. I like the philosophy of the team, the education side.

3 time world champion Cameron Meyer has taken out the 2007 NSW Criterium Championships in a dominant performance at Sydney Olympic park. Meyer, who rides for the South Australia.com/AIS team, powered his way from North Sydney’s Nash Kent and former Australian criterium champion Dean Windsor.
